Downpipe Repairs in Sydney
We fix the joint, clear the block or replace the section — whatever the fault actually is.

A downpipe fault is usually one of three things: a leaking joint or connection, a blockage at the outlet or base, or a damaged section that's split or crushed. Each has a targeted fix, so we work out which you've got instead of replacing the whole run by default. Often a repair to the outlet connection or a single section gets water flowing again without the cost of a full replacement.
Leaking joints and connections
The most common downpipe leak is at the top, where the pipe meets the gutter outlet, or at a joint where two sections or a bend connect. Over time the connection works loose with thermal movement or the sealant fails, and water dribbles down the wall behind the pipe. We re-secure and re-seal the connection properly, or replace the outlet fitting if that's the actual leak point rather than replacing the whole pipe.
Water tracking down a wall behind a downpipe is easy to miss until the render stains or the wall stays damp, so we check the joints along the full run, not just the obvious spot.
Blockages at the base and outlet
Downpipes block where the water slows down — at the top outlet throat and at the base where the pipe meets the stormwater. Debris packs in and the pipe backs up, causing the gutter above to overflow. We clear the blockage from both ends and flush the pipe to confirm it runs free, then check whether the outlet needs a leaf strainer to stop it recurring.
Dented, split and rusted sections
A crushed downpipe restricts flow; a split one leaks; a rusted base weeps and stains. Where a single section is damaged we can often replace just that length and re-join it to the sound pipe, matching the colour, rather than pulling the whole run down. If the pipe is rusting throughout, we'll be honest that a full replacement is the better spend.

Frequently Asked Questions
Water runs down the wall behind my downpipe — what's wrong?
Usually a leaking joint or the top connection where the pipe meets the gutter outlet has worked loose or lost its seal. We re-secure and re-seal it, or replace the outlet fitting if that's the fault. It's often a small repair rather than a full downpipe replacement.
My downpipe is blocked — can you clear it without replacing it?
In most cases, yes. Blockages sit at the outlet throat or the base where the pipe meets stormwater. We clear it from both ends and flush the pipe to confirm it runs free. Replacement is only needed if the pipe is also damaged or rusted through.
Can you repair just the damaged part of my downpipe?
If the damage is a single crushed or split section on an otherwise sound pipe, yes — we replace that length and re-join it, matching the colour as closely as we can. If the whole pipe is rusting, patching one part is false economy and we'll say so.
Why does my gutter overflow when the downpipe looks fine?
The blockage is usually hidden in the outlet throat or down at the base, not in the visible length. A downpipe that looks clear can still be choked where you can't see. We clear and flush both ends, which is where a quick visual check misses the real problem.
