Storm Damage

24/7 Emergency Storm Response Across Sydney

When the roof gives way at 2am, we turn up and stop the water getting worse.

Emergency Storm Response

The hours straight after a storm are when the real damage happens. A cracked tile or a lifted sheet lets rain track into your ceiling cavity, soak insulation and drip through plaster while you wait. Our emergency response is about one thing: stopping the water before it spreads. We prioritise make-safe work, not selling you a full re-roof at midnight. We cover greater Sydney around the clock and aim to get to genuine emergencies fast. When we arrive we assess the risk, secure the roof, and document everything for your insurer.

What make-safe actually involves

Make-safe is temporary work that protects the building and the people in it until permanent repairs can be booked. On a tile roof that usually means fitting heavy-duty tarps over the damaged area, weighting and battening them down so they do not lift in the next gust, and clearing broken tiles that could slide. On metal roofs we screw down lifted sheets, seal split laps and refit torn flashings so the envelope is watertight again.

Inside, we deal with the water that has already got in. That can mean relieving a bulging, water-filled ceiling with a controlled drain point so it does not collapse in one go, and moving contents clear. It is not pretty, but it stops a small problem becoming a ruined room.

Safety first in wet, windy conditions

Roofs are slippery and unstable during and immediately after a storm, and there is real risk from fallen powerlines, weakened structures and lifting sheet metal. We will not send crews onto a roof while lightning is about or wind is still dangerous, and we will tell you honestly if the safe move is to secure things from ground level and return at first light. We use a planned, safety-focused method rather than heroics.

Documenting the damage while it is fresh

Insurers want to see the cause and extent of damage before anyone starts cleaning up. As part of the callout we photograph the roof, the entry points and the internal damage, and note weather conditions and the date. That record travels with your claim and saves arguments later about what was storm-related versus wear and tear. If you are unsure whether to claim, we will give you a straight read on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you get to me after a storm?

We aim to reach genuine emergencies as fast as safely possible, and we triage by risk so ceilings actively taking water get priority. During major storm events demand spikes across Sydney, so we are honest about timing and will keep you posted rather than leave you guessing.

Will you go on the roof during the storm?

Not while it is unsafe. If lightning is active or wind is still dangerous we secure things from ground level and return the moment conditions allow. Rushing onto a wet, lifting roof helps nobody, and pushing water back inside your home in the meantime is not worth an injury.

Does emergency make-safe count on my insurance claim?

Usually yes. Most home policies expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and make-safe costs are commonly covered. We document the work and provide an itemised report so you can submit it with your claim. Check your policy or ask us and we will explain in plain terms.

Is a tarp enough or do I still need a proper repair?

A tarp is temporary. It buys you days to weeks, not months, and it will eventually degrade or lift. Once the weather clears we book a full assessment and permanent repair. Leaving a tarp in place indefinitely just invites the next leak, so treat make-safe as step one, not the fix.
