Gutter Replacement in Sydney

New guttering sized for your roof, not just cut to the same old dimensions.

Gutter Replacement

When a gutter is rusting along its length, pitted, or bent out of shape, replacement is cheaper over time than chasing endless leaks. Replacing is also the moment to fix mistakes the last installer left behind — undersized profiles, too few outlets, or fall running the wrong way. We measure your roof catchment, pick a profile that can actually shift the water, and fix it to sound fascia so it lasts.

Choosing the right profile and material

Quad, half-round and slotted gutters all move water differently. On a large or steep roof we often recommend a high-front or deeper profile because it carries more before it overflows the front edge. Colorbond is the standard choice for its colour range and coastal durability; Zincalume suits some looks and budgets. Near the water we talk through the coastal-grade options so the metal doesn't corrode early.

Profile choice isn't just looks. The wrong section on a big roof will spill over the front in every serious storm no matter how clean it is, so we size to the area draining into it.

Sizing outlets and downpipes to the roof area

A gutter is only as good as what drains it. We calculate the roof catchment feeding each run and make sure there are enough outlets and downpipes of the right diameter. It is common to find a home where the guttering is fine but there simply aren't enough downpipes, so it overflows every downpour. Replacement is the time to correct that properly.

Fascia, brackets and getting the fall right

New gutter fixed to rotten fascia won't last, so we check the timber and flag any that needs replacing before we hang new metal. We set the correct continuous fall toward the outlets, space brackets to suit the profile and wind loads, and fit new stop-ends and expansion joints on long runs so heat movement doesn't split the joints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I replace all my gutters or just the bad runs?

If one run has failed but the rest are the same age and material, they're usually not far behind. Doing it all at once means one colour match, one set-up cost and no ladders back next year. If some runs are genuinely newer, we'll happily do only what needs it.

Do I need new fascia when I replace the gutter?

Not always. Fascia only needs replacing if it's rotted, split or too soft to hold fixings. We check it once the old gutter is off and tell you what we find. New metal fixed to sound timber lasts; fixed to soft timber it will sag within a couple of years.

What's the difference between Colorbond and Zincalume gutters?

Zincalume is the bare aluminium-zinc coated steel — silver, durable and often cheaper. Colorbond is the same base with a baked colour coating so it matches your roof and trim. Most homes go Colorbond for the look and colour range; both perform well when installed properly.

Can new gutters help with overflow problems?

Often, yes — if the old ones were undersized or short on downpipes. Simply swapping like-for-like won't fix an overflow caused by too little capacity, so replacement is the right time to add outlets or step up to a deeper profile that carries more water.
