Roof Replacements
Roof Re-Sheeting Across Sydney
Off with the tired old sheets, on with a roof that keeps the weather out for decades.

Re-sheeting means stripping the existing metal sheets off your roof and laying new ones over the same frame. It is the go-to fix once corrugated iron or older profiled steel has rusted through, lost its coating, or started weeping at every screw hole. Unlike a patch job, re-sheeting gives you a fresh, watertight cover and a chance to sort out sarking, screws and flashings while the roof is open. It suits homes, sheds, carports and factories alike.
When re-sheeting beats patching
If your sheets have surface rust in one spot, a repair is often enough. But once you see rust bleeding along the laps, pinholes letting daylight through, or screws that spin without biting, the metal has usually gone past saving. Re-sheeting is also the honest call when a roof has been screwed and re-screwed so many times the holes no longer seal.
We will tell you plainly which camp your roof is in. There is no point re-sheeting a frame that needs battens replaced first, and no point patching sheets that will leak again next storm season.
What we do while the roof is open
A re-sheet is the one time your roof is fully accessible, so we make the most of it. We check the timber or steel battens for rot and rust, replace anything soft, and lay new sarking (the reflective foil blanket) underneath for insulation and a secondary moisture barrier. New valleys, ridge capping and wall flashings go on at the same time so nothing old is left to fail early.
Fixings and profiles that last
We fix new sheets with cyclone-rated, sealed screws driven to the correct depth so the neoprene washer seats without crushing. Over-driven screws are one of the most common causes of leaks in re-sheeted roofs, so we get the torque right. You can keep the same corrugated look or switch to a trapezoidal profile like a five-rib for a lower pitch, and we will size the profile to your roof pitch and rainfall.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you re-sheet over the existing sheets?
No, and we would not recommend it. Sheeting over old rusted iron traps moisture between the layers and hides battens that may need replacing. We always strip the old sheets first so the frame is checked and the new roof sits flat and sealed.
Will I need new insulation when you re-sheet?
It is the ideal time to add it. With the sheets off, we can lay fresh sarking and, if you want, blanket insulation over the battens. It costs far less than doing it as a separate job later and noticeably cuts summer heat.
How long does re-sheeting an average house take?
Most single-storey Sydney homes are stripped and re-sheeted in two to four days, weather permitting. We never leave a roof fully open overnight without temporary cover, so a passing storm will not soak your ceilings.
Do I need council approval to re-sheet my roof?
Straight replacement in the same material and colour is usually exempt development. If you are changing profile, colour on a heritage property, or altering the roof line, approval may apply. We will flag it before we start.
